Visionary project to transform the Port of Eden
The Port of Eden in the South Coast region will be transformed into a major cruise and boating destination as part of a visionary project supported by the NSW Government.
Expressions of interest have been sought from private investors to deliver a thriving maritime precinct in this rapidly growing tourist destination between Sydney and Melbourne.
The Snug Cove Maritime Precinct is expected to include a wet berth marina accommodating commercial and recreational vessels, marina operations facilities, boat repair and maintenance facilities, boat refuelling and pump-out facilities, commercial, retail, food and beverage outlets and short-term accommodation, as well as public domain and car parking.
The NSW Government’s Maritime Infrastructure Plan identifies Eden as a critical investment location to support the commercial fishing industry, tourism and recreational boating visitation in NSW.
Eden also supports one of the largest fishing fleets in the state, the Royal Australian Navy and Bega Valley region’s timber industry.
Andrew Dooley, Project Director, Maritime Infrastructure Delivery Office says:
“The Snug Cove Maritime Precinct initiative in Eden will increase the capacity for local and visiting vessels to safely moor in Snug Cove, enhancing Eden’s reputation as a boating and tourism destination, supporting tourism and boating jobs growth in south east NSW and the socio-economic development of Eden and the Bega Valley.”
