The world’s biggest fund manager, BlackRock, has raised more than $500 million from local and offshore investors to help fund the largest battery storage project in Australia.
The Waratah Super Battery is on track to be one of the largest battery energy storage systems in the world, with 850 megawatts and 1680 megawatt-hours of capacity.
The Waratah Super Battery will drive long-term capital investment in Australia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Construction of the Waratah Super Battery, at the site of the former Munmorah coal-fired power station, is already underway and expected to be completed in 2025.
