The NSW Digital Skills and Workforce Compact 2023-30 is a groundbreaking initiative that combines the resources, knowledge and expertise of the NSW Government, employers, digital industry groups and the education and training sectors. This collaborative approach aims to address the anticipated shortage of 85,000 digital workers by 2030, as highlighted in the ICT Industry Landscape Report of 2022.
Unique to NSW, the Compact focuses on innovation and collaboration, moving beyond traditional methods of skills and workforce development. It aims to make structural changes in the digital ecosystem, benefiting small businesses, major tech employers and organisations that heavily rely on digital talent.
2024 concluded with the inaugural 20% Alternative Pathways Pledge event, where 22 partner organisations committed to expanding alternative pathways into digital careers, reinforcing the collective commitment to reshaping recruitment practices and strengthening diverse talent pipelines.
A second pledge signing is scheduled for 31 July, an opportunity for additional partners to commit.
